There’s a new article out that gives a recap of an Oprah Winfrey interview with Dr. Oz on Dec. 7, 2011. One of Oprahs favorite things right now in her life is connecting to the spiritual. The article is titled “Oprah Discusses Her Life After the Practice of Transcendental Meditation” and was written by Jesus Manuel Rojas Torres.
During the interview Oprah talks about meditation and how everyone in her company meditates at 9 a.m. and at 4 p.m. everyday at work. That is pretty cool.
The article was published by the Examiner. It also gives a direct link to the part of the one hour interview where Dr. Oz and Oprah talk about meditating. Oprah says it’s important for her to connect to “that which is bigger than herself” and how important it is to remember that. Oprah says, “For me at this time in my life I recognize that everything is about moving closer to that which is God. And without a full, spiritual center-and I am not talking about religion, I am talking about without understanding the fullness from which you’ve come you can’t really fulfill your supreme moment of destiny.”
Oprah also talks about going to visit a town where 30% of the population meditates. Wow, maybe I should move there. I wonder what living in a town like that would be like.
The town is Fairfield, Iowa, home of Maharishi University of Management, which was founded by spiritual leader and Vedic sage Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. So I guess that explains why 30% of the population meditates.
The population of Fairfield is only around 9000 people. But still, that’s a town ahead of it’s time. And it’s in the Midwest, where small towns are usually behind the times, not ahead of them.
